String of Bananas Succulent
Product Description
String of Bananas brings a soft cascade of curved, fleshy leaves to a bright interior. Its trailing stems lend movement to a shelf or hanging display, with each plant developing its own length and fullness.
Plant Characteristics
- Glossy, banana-shaped succulent leaves on slender trailing stems
- Water-storing foliage and a drought-tolerant habit
- Native to southern Africa
Care Details
- Light: Bright, indirect light should reach the whole plant, including the crown and trailing stems. Avoid intense full sun.
- Water: Let the top half of the potting mix dry before watering. Water thoroughly, drain excess water, and avoid keeping the roots wet.
- Soil: Use a coarse, sandy, well-draining cactus or succulent mix in a pot with drainage.
- Temperature: Protect from frost.
- Upkeep: Prune trailing stems in spring or summer to manage length and encourage branching.
- Pet safety: Toxic if eaten by cats or dogs. Ingestion may cause loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting; larger amounts can be more serious. Sap may irritate skin. Keep the trailing stems out of reach.
Styling & Placement
Let its curved leaves spill from a bright shelf or hanging planter. Make sure the crown gets light as well as the vines, and choose a position pets cannot reach.
What Arrives
