Philodendron ‘Golden Ring of Fire’

A slow-growing philodendron selected for its shifting foliage, ‘Golden Ring of Fire’ brings a vivid accent to a bright room. Leaf color and pattern can vary as new growth matures, so no two plants will look exactly alike.

Plant Characteristics

• Varied foliage color and pattern, with each leaf developing individually
• Slow-growing, sculptural indoor accent
• Color, fullness, and leaf shape vary naturally between plants

Care Details

• Light: Bright, indirect light. Keep out of strong direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
• Water and soil: Grow in an organic-rich, well-draining potting mix. Check moisture before watering; water thoroughly when the upper layer begins to dry, then drain excess water. Avoid leaving the roots waterlogged.
• Humidity: Appreciates humidity but can adapt to an average home. Use a humidifier or pebble tray if the air is very dry.
• Temperature: Aim for roughly 65–85°F and protect from cold drafts.
• Upkeep: Repot when root-bound and prune if needed to maintain its shape. Watch for mealybugs, aphids, scale, thrips, and spider mites; keep foliage dry when watering and allow airflow.
• Pet safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Philodendron can cause mouth irritation or swelling, drooling, vomiting, or difficulty swallowing. Sap can irritate skin. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

Styling & Placement

Give its changing foliage a bright position with filtered light. Select a shelf or stand based on the height of the plant actually delivered, rather than its nursery-pot diameter.
