Alocasia ‘Tiny Dancer’

Slender stems lift small green leaves into a loose, rhythmic silhouette. Alocasia ‘Tiny Dancer’ brings a sense of movement to a bright interior, its open form offering a lighter counterpoint to broad-leaved plants.

Plant Characteristics

• Long, upright stems with small green leaves
• Airy, sculptural growth habit
• Stem height, leaf count, and shape vary naturally between plants

Care Details

• Light: Give it bright, indirect light, away from harsh direct sun.
• Water: During active growth, water when the top roughly 2″ of potting mix feels dry, then drain excess water. Reduce watering substantially if growth slows or the plant goes dormant in winter; wet dormant roots can rot.
• Soil: Use a well-draining houseplant mix in a pot with drainage. Add horticultural grit when repotting if the mix needs better drainage.
• Humidity: Alocasias prefer medium to high humidity. Dry air can brown leaf edges and encourage spider mites; grouping plants or using a humidifier may help.
• Temperature: Keep warm during growth, at least 60°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below 50°F, including during transport.
• Feeding: Use a general liquid fertilizer during active growth, following its label; hold off during dormancy.
• Upkeep: Remove fading leaves at the base, watch for spider mites, and avoid overwatering. Wear gloves when cutting damaged growth because sap can irritate skin.
• Safety: Alocasias contain irritating calcium oxalate crystals and should not be eaten. Keep away from pets and children.

Styling & Placement

Give its open shape room to be seen in bright, indirect light, away from cold drafts and out of reach of pets and children.
