Pachira Money Tree, Stump Form

With its leafy crown and compact trunk, the Pachira Money Tree, Stump Form brings a quiet, sculptural presence to a bright room. Also known as Guiana chestnut, Pachira aquatica is traditionally associated with good fortune, making it a thoughtful gift without promising luck or financial results.

Plant Characteristics

• Glossy green foliage and an upright, tree-like form
• Compact stump-form presentation
• Evergreen tropical plant suited to indoor growing

Care Details

• Care level: Moderate
• Light: Bright, indirect light; protect from harsh direct sun
• Water: Keep the potting mix lightly moist, allowing excess water to drain. Do not leave the pot standing in water.
• Soil: Moist, well-draining indoor potting mix
• Conditions: Appreciates humidity and warmth; bring indoors before temperatures fall below 45°F
• Pet safety: ASPCA lists Pachira aquatica as non-toxic to cats and dogs, though eating plant material may still cause stomach upset.

Check the soil rather than watering on a fixed schedule. Standing water can damage the roots, while soil that becomes too dry may contribute to leaf drop.

Styling & Placement

Place it near a bright window with filtered light, where its leafy silhouette can soften a desk, console, or side table. A simple planter lets the plant’s form remain the focal point; keep it away from cold drafts.
